New Winter Hours at Start Me Up Niagara Drop-In Resource Centre Begin October 8th

Extended Thursday hours will provide people experiencing homelessness with a warm, welcoming space and connections to community services throughout the winter.

[St. Catharines, Ontario] — October 5th, 2026

Start Me Up Niagara is introducing new winter extended hours at its Drop-In Resource Centre beginning Thursday, October 8, 2026.

The centre will be open every Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a service pause for a staff break from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The low-barrier Drop-In Resource Centre on Church St. offers people experiencing homelessness a safe space to pick up mail, access a computer or telephone, and access wraparound services in a warm, welcoming space where they can enjoy coffee, connect with others and ease social isolation.

“As the colder months approach, it is especially important that our neighbours have a warm and welcoming place where they feel safe, respected and connected,” said Kelly-Ann Salerno, Executive Director of Start Me Up Niagara. “Our extended Thursday hours will give people more time to access essential services, build supportive relationships and connect with people. No one should have to face the challenges of homelessness or social isolation alone.”
