Working Together
Volunteers play an important role in the functionality of Start Me Up Niagara. We encourage anyone with the time and interest in volunteering to reach out to us about what opportunities exist when we are able to accept new Volunteers.
We welcome our own participants, along with community members, to be a part of the team.
Volunteering for Start Me Up means you can make a real difference — not just in the lives of others, but in your own life journey as well. While the time volunteers dedicate help us to fulfill our commitment of providing support to individuals facing significant life challenges, many volunteers also find meaning for themselves in giving back, learning new skills and building connections in their community.
Without our dedicated team of volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to offer the programs and activities participants have come to count on.
Volunteer Roles
Turn a few hours into real impact. At Delta Bingo locations in St. Catharines, Welland, Niagara Falls, and Fort Erie, you’ll greet guests, represent SMUN, and help raise vital funds supporting individuals facing poverty, homelessness, and other challenges across Niagara.
Volunteers help refurbish donated bicycles in our community bike shop, providing affordable, reliable transportation for individuals and families facing poverty or homelessness.
Volunteer in our drop-in space by welcoming participants, supporting café service, helping with programs, and keeping the space safe, warm, and respectful. Training is provided, and staff are always on-site.
Food Program volunteers help us prepare, organize, deliver, and distribute meals to students and community members in need.
Mobile Closet volunteers help provide clothing and hygiene essentials across Niagara. Support warehouse sorting, community events, or Mini Closet restocking to ensure individuals and families in need have dignified, accessible support when they need it most.
