Something good happened at the Drop-In Resource Centre this week.
We stayed open later on Wednesday. The coffee was on. The games were out. The foosball table got loud. People laughed, cheered, played, watched, joined in and stayed awhile.
It felt like exactly what the space is meant to be.
Starting this week, Start Me Up Niagara’s Drop-In Resource Centre has expanded Wednesday hours to create more room for connection, recreation and community.
New Wednesday Hours
12:00 PM to 3:30 PM
Drop-in support, practical resources, referrals, coffee, food and care.
4:30 PM to 7:00 PM
Games, activities, coffee and time to connect.
For many people, a welcoming place to spend time is not a small thing. It can be the difference between feeling alone and feeling seen. Sometimes, community starts with a deck of cards, a game of foosball, a warm cup of coffee, or someone saying, “Come join us.”
At Start Me Up Niagara, we believe dignity lives in everyday moments. It lives in practical support, but also in laughter, belonging and choice.
Our first Wednesday Games Night was full of energy, and we are just getting started.
Come for the games. Stay for the coffee. Leave with a little more connection than you came in with.
